Pilot hurts back
PA Masterton Within 40 minutes of crashing on an isolated Wairarapa coastal sheep station yesterday morning a Masterton tropdressing pilot, Mr Llewellyn Woods, was being treated at Masterton Hospital. Mr Woods suffered severe back injuries in the crash, which occurred near Widow’s Peak on Caledonia station. He was taken to hospital by helicopter. His condition was later described as fairly satisfactory. The Masterton police said that the aircraft, an Air Truck, belonging to Air Contracts, Ltd, was a write-off after being forced to the ground by a strong downdraft.
