Rescue craft rescued
PA Auckland The Auckland Airport rescue hovercraft had to be rescued itself when it drifted dangerously close to rocks in Manukau Harbour on Tuesday evening. The trouble-prone hovercraft, which was out of action for about half of last year, had to be towed away from rocks by two Manukau coast guard boats after it broke down near Puketutu Island.
The boats kept it about 10 metres away from the rocks for almost four hours while a crewman returned to the airport for spare parts and an engineer.
