U.S. economist honoured

Condi iff e, a former, professor of economics at the | I University of Canterbury, I v. as made an honorary knight I of the Order of St Michael | and St George in San Fran-, cisco on Friday. The investiture was made! by the New Zealand Ambas-I sador (Mr Lloyd White) asi the Queen's New Zealand! representative, at one of the 1 final functions during the viist of the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) to the United! States. Mr Muldoon described Dr Condliffe, who is 81, as “one of New Zealand’s greatestsons" and said he would! always be regarded as a New Zealander. Because Dr Condliffe Is' now an American citizen he! cannot be titleo “Sir." Dr Condliffe was bom in; Australia and lectured at] Canterbury University in the, 1920 s and 1930 s before going; to the United States, where he helped found the Stanford Research Institute. He has lived in the United
