Croquet results
Marie Thompson and Don Stanton won the final of the intermediate doubles in the Canterbury Croquet Association’s championships at the Holmes Park lawn on Saturday. In the only final of the day, they beat Gladys Goodman and Evelyn Cocks 26-20. In the open singles championship. Sue Grigg had three comfortable wins and must be one of the favourites to win the final v/.ien it is played this week. Results of Saturdays games were: Open championship singles: Mrs F. Frazer 26, Mrs R. Foster 19; Miss S. Grigg 26, Mrs Foster 8; Mrs Frazer 26. Mrs G. Cleave 9: Miss Grigg 26, J. McNabb 11; Miss Grigg 26, Mrs Cleave 3. Levels championship singles.— First life: J. Heamshaw 26, G. Howes 12; Mrs I. Horwood 26, J. Palmer 15. Second life: Howes 26, N. McLauchlan 7; Mrs Horwood 26 Miss E. Innes 3. Women’s championship singles. — Second life: Mrs I. Baldwin 26, Mrs A. Mollison 17. Men’s championship singles.— First life: J. Heamshaw 26, J. Palmer 9; J. McNabb 26. Hearnshaw 25. Second life: McNabb 26, D. Stanton 4: Heamshaw 26, D. Miskimmin 19.
