NZPA Melbourne] Australia's George Ganim jun. retained his undefeated' record in the Palmdale! Insurance world amateur bil-( liards championship yesterday when he accounted for the New Zealander Tom Yesberg. Ganim, who won the Australian championship this year by defeating his father! in the final, played well wi-j: thin himself as he ran to an) interval lead of just over! 300. It was one-sided in the] second session as the Aus-], tralian calmly increased his ; lead at. nearly every visit to*; the table, to win 1303-743. ;■ Ganim had best breaks of !; 174, 118, 82, and 80, while
Yesberg could only manage breaks of 65 and 52. In yesterday’s other match, the Welshman Clive Everton beat India’s Sayed Aleem 1119-861. Norman Dagley, of England, the defending world champion, continued his run of.-success last night. Against the New Zealander Herbie Robinson, he once again paced his play as he easily won the game. Dagley seems to have the ability to produce century breaks almost at will without appearing to be trying hard, and although the New Zealander played a good, steady game, he never looked like making things difficult for rhe defending champion.
