Athletics.—Skinned feet have forced the withdrawal of Kevin Ryan from the New Zealand team to compete in the Pacific Conference Games in Canberra on December 3-4. His replacement is the Auckland triple and long jumper. Dragon Ivanov. Chess.—Asia’s only grand masters, Eugene Torre and Rosendo Balinas jnr, will head a six-man Philippines team which leaves today for New Zealand to defend the title in the second Asian chess team championship from November 17 to 29.
