THE NORTH CANTERBURY ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY REMINDER NOTICE OF GENERAL MEETING A GENERAL MEETING of members of The North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society is to be held in the Winter Gardens Hall, 195 Armagh Street, Christchurch, on Wednesday, November 23, 1977, at 7.30 p.m., before the Annual General Meeting. The meeting has been requisitioned by the President in accordance with Rule 16, to transact the following business:— To Ballot for Life Membership Mr G. Ferris The Council of The North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society has accepted the nomination of Mr G. Ferris, 22A Taupata Street, Redcliffs, for election to Life Membership of the Society. The Council now recommends the nomination of Mr G. Ferris as a Life Member in accordance with rules 4 (2) and 16 which read: 4(2). Any person who has rendered signal service to the Society shall be eligible for Life Membership. All nominations shall be submitted to the Council and on the recommendation of the Council any general meeting may, by a three-fourths majority of those members present and voting, elect such nominees as Life Members. All nominations approved by the Council must be sent out with the notices calling the general meeting, and the election shall be by ballot of the members present at such a general meeting. Life Members shall be entitled to complimentary licences. Provided that all members who are registered as Life Members of the Society at the date of the Society at the date of the adopion of these rules shall continue to be Life Members of the Society. 16. General meetings of the Society other than the annual general meeting shall be called by the Council on seven clear days notice being given in a daily newspaper circulating in the district. At such meetings, papers and other communications of the Society and reports prepared by the Council may be presented, and discussions encouraged as may be of value in promoting the functions and objects of the society. (b) To ratify the temporary’ loan of monies from The Council of South Island Acclimatisation Societies, to purchase the Ellesmere Lakeside property. , J M CHECKETTS, Secretary. 2098
