40 shops to hold auctions
Marvlands Special School and Little Acre will be the beneficiaries from auctions ito be held in about 40 shops in the south of the city next week. I Thirty-three auctions are • planned in shops in the w Icinity of Colombo Street |from St Asaph Street to Cashel Street from Tuesday to i Friday. Four or five items •will be put up in each auction. ‘ The City South Association which is running the I auctions, is attempting to j overcome the “problem of j hangers-on looking for free 'hand-outs." said the associ« tation’s advertising consultant. Mr G. W. Hammond. I “Until now all ticket issues bv the association ■have been free; next week I bidders' money will go to Icharity,” he said. I The association hopes to iraise between $5OO and $lOO. I All monev raised will go to 'the nominated charities. The 1 auctions, which will run Trom 10.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at advertised times and places, will coincide with a city south sale.
