Fresh faces at show
Two young Englishwomen wearing navy blue jackets bearing Young Farmers’ Club monograms were at the Royal Show in Christchurch. They are in New Zealand for six months as guests of Federated Farmers, in return for the hospitality shown to the two farm cadets who are sent to Britain by the federation, and who are looked after by the Y.F.C. movement there. The English girls are Miss Jill May, aged 22, who comes from Devon, and Miss Susanne Verity, aged 21, from Worcestershire. Miss May is staying with
Mr G. N. Frazer, at West Eyreton; and Miss Verity is with Mr R, Tarbotton, at Rakaia. Miss May, who was trained as a farm secretary, works for the Meat and Livestock Commission collecting data from about 50 farms in Devon and Cornwall and preparing farm costings for beef cattle and sheep enterprises. Miss Verity, who is a dis* tant relative of Hedley Verity, the English test bowler of earlier years, has just graduated B.Sc. in agriculture from Reading University.
