Move back to Washington

Washington

Chip and Caron Carter, the President’s son and daughter-in-law, who were reported last summer to be having marital problems, are to move back to Washington with their 8-month-old son, James Earl Carter IV, United Press International reported. The First Lady, Rosalynn Carter, said: “It had always been their intention” to return to Washington. There was no immediate indication whether they would move back into the White House, nor when they would move.

Chip, who has been working in Plains, Georgia, for the company that leased the Carter family’s peanut warehouse, broke his leg several weeks ago when he fell from a truck. His leg still is in a cast.

Chip and Caron moved back to Plains last (northern) summer amid reports they were having marital problems.
