Two bodies found
PA Invercargill A former Christchurch man was one of two persons drowned near Milford Sound, Fiordland, at the week-end. He was Michael Bernard Berry, aged 25, a crayfisherman, of Milford Sound The other person drowned was
Allison Linda Clark, aged 24, of Hamilton. The bodies were found 15 miles apart. The two had apparently gone fishing from Milford Sound in a 17ft runabout at midday on Saturday. It is thought the boat was owned by the dead man. A fisherman, Mr Harvey Taylor, found Mr Berry’s body floating in the water just' south of Milford Sound at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday. After a 90-minute search, the woman’s body was found at Yates Point, north of Milford Sound, at 12.45 p.m.
No sign was found of the boat or any wreckage. The police said seas were rough at the time and this could have accounted for the bodies being washed so far apart.
