Record Show Day betting
Betting records for a Show Day were broken at Addington Raceway yesterday. The crowd of 22,623 was one of the largest for years. Twelve months ago, when the weather was bad, there was an attendance of only 13.020.
On-course betting yesterday amounted to $823,242, an increase of $177,767. The totalisator worked perfectly, with none of the problems winch beset the club on Tuesday. Off-course betting also reached a record total for Show Day of $827,553,50. an increase of $10,629 over last year.
Trotting journalists voted Nigel Craig the horse of th* meeting in the Traveled?* contest. He had a one-vote lead over Balgot e. which was the unanimous selection of the patrons.
