SHOW EGO WINS OAKS
NZPA Melbourne The Tommy Smith-trained filly, Show Ego. won the $75,000 Oaks Stakes at Flemington on Thursday. Smith, who collapsed in a Melbourne restaurant on Melbourne Cup night, received the best tonic in the world when Show Ego (15 to 1) swept to a three-quartei length win over the 8-11 favourite Sun Sally, which is trained by Smith's training rival Bart Cummings. Show Ego is owned by the American millionairess, Mrs Jacqueline Getty 11, and her breeder, Mr K. F. Cox, who runs the Stockwell Stud in Victoria and is also a member of the Victoria Racing Club committee. Show Ego is from the New Zealand-bred mare, Agricola Lady.
