Schoolboys' cricket
The cricket season for primary schoolboys begins today with the first day’s play in the Canterbury Cricket Association’s Junior Advisory Board competition. A total of 86 teams, split into four grades is involved.
In addition to the four grades, there is a competition of one-day matches known as the “protective” grade. This is a grade where a team may have, for example, three 12-year-old players in the same side as four nine-year-olds, playing against a team with a similar range of ages,
