THE LOCATION: The plant is situated approximately 5 miies from Greymouth on the Main South Road. THE PLANT: Consists of one 24,000 L.8./hour John Thompson water tube boiler on which most of the processes are automatic. There is also the usual auxilliary equipment associated with a boiler of this size. The boiler is fired for the most part on wood aste from the manufacturing process, and on coal when wood waste is not available. QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of second class stationary certificate is required to operate this plant. SHIFTS: A rotating shift roster is worked and at present overtime is also being worked to suit the running of the factory. The boiler is run 24 hours per day, 6 days per week.
