Keen tour interest

An enthusiastic response has resulted from the announcement this week of “The Press” Commonwealth Games supporters’ tour to Canada. The 23-day escorted tour will leave Christchurch on July 28 and arrive at Edmonton on August 2 after night-stops at Nandi, Vancouver, and Banti. The tour, which will fly with Air New Zealand and C.P. Air. includes a 19-hour Journey by train through the Rockies. After 11 days at Edmonton, the group will return to Christchurch on August 20. after stopping for several days at Disneyland and Honolulu. Readers who have already shown interest range in age from their early 20s — three nurses want to take advantage of the special $1599 rate for three to a room — to a man of 78 “in excellent health." Several persons have inquired whether they can “do their own thing” in Edmonton instead of attending the Games every day. As the tour cost does not include admission to the Games, members of the group w ill be free to do as they like, provided they join the tour again before it leaves Edmonton for California. The tour cost on a share-twin basis is s)7t>9 (plus SB7 travel tax). It includes all air fares and accommodation, but not charges for meals.

Further information and a full itinerary will be posted on Monday to readers who have sent in coupons from the advertisements which have appeared during the week. More advertisements, with coupons, will appear in “The Press” next week.
