Alleged agent named by protesters
About 250 protesters shouted the name of an alleged Christchurch S.I.S. agent outside the Christchurch headquarters of the S.I.S. last evening. The protesters followed a coffin marked “liberty” and a banner proclaiming “Freedom Lives, Unite Against the S.I.S. Bill” to the beat of a drum from Victoria Square to Hereford Street.
After hearing speeches from Mr B. Consedine and Mr G. Goddard, a member of the Wellington Trades Council and of the Wellington 0.A.5.1.5. (B) organisation opposed to the bill, the protesters were addressed by Mr P. L. Conway. He urged those present to show civil disobedience and make the bill inoperable by making known the names of S.I.S. agents.
