Chch poets in second reading

Christchurch poets will have another chance to read their works at the second in a series of monthly readings intended to revive the art. The two organisers, Messrs David Hall and Stephen Oxenham, believe that there is a demand for readings and that local poets welcome the chance to read their works.

Today, five poets will read from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Arts Centre, Room 26. They are Don Long, Ken Hudon, David Round, Gerard O’Connor, and Stephen Oxenham. Lynda Winstanley will sing. The evening will be entitled “Black Powder and Red Wine,” to commemorate Guy Fawkes Day. “We hope to bring life back into poetry,” said Mr Hall. “We hope it will soon enjoy a renaissance.”
