Fire Service chairman
PA Wellington Rear Admiral E. C. Thorne has been appointed chairman ! of the Fire Service Commission, succeeding Sir Jack Hunn, who retired recently. Admiral Thorne, who has been appointed for an initial term of three years, was the first Chief of Naval Staff to the fellowship was the Royal New Zealand Navy. He retired as Chief of Naval Staff in 1975.
