$94,000 for estate
“Kincardie,” a colinialstyle home in Old Tai Tapu Road, nine miles from Christchurch, was sold for $94,000 at auction yesterday. The auctioneer, Mr F. McD. Templeton, of Matson and Allan Real Estate, Ltd, said there was a good attendance. The 4.8 ha (11 acres) property had a 1971 Government valuation of $35,000. The house has a large games room with, a feature fireplace, a large lounge, separate dining area, one single and two double and master bedrooms with showers and toilets. It also has barbecue areas and a double garage. Nine acres of the property is planted in lucerne, and outbuildings include a workshop, tractor shed, fowlhouse, and a woodshed.
A property, “Jedburgh,” >at Waikari was passed in at auction when bidding reached $BO,OOO. The house and 26 ha (64 acres) of choice downs and flats was offered on account of the estate of B. G. Rutherford. The auctioneer, Mr'M. W. Johnston, of Pyne, Gould, Guinness Ltd, said the 1974 Government valuation of the property was $45,200.
The weatherboard iron roof homestead of about 370 sq. m has two double bedrooms with hand-basins and builtin wardrobes. It also has a large lounge with a billiard
table, a dining room)’ a stttihg room, a large kitchen , with walk-in, pantry, a scullery two bathrooms,- and servants’ quarters comprising two bedrooms, a lounge, a bathroom, an iron room and a storeroom.' Outbuildings include stables, implement sheds, a double garage, horse-yards and a combined store. The property is situated on the main Waikari-Culverden road, three miles north of Waikari township and 48 miles from Christchurch. A six-bedroomed home at 11 Taylors Avenue, Fendal-
ton, was passed in at auction when bidding reached $55,000. The 200 sq. m house has one storey and a half, and is built partly of timber and partly of bolstered brick, with shingled gable ends. As well as the bedrooms it has a large games room, two living rooms, a kitchen and double garage. Features of the interior include beamed ceilings and stained timber panelling. The auctioneer,’ Mr P. J. Cook, of Simes and Company, Ltd, said the 1975 Government valuation of the property was $50,000.
