Gauls against Romans
Asterix and Caesar’s Gift. By Goscinny and Uderzo. Hodder and Stoughton. 48 pp. $4.25. Life is hard for Asterix, Obelix, Getafix and Cacofonix when Caesar presents their tiny Gaulish village to Tremensdelerious, a long-serving Roman soldier. After a rousing chorus of “Kiss me goodnight, Centurion,” Tremensdelerious hands 'over the village to an inn-keeper to settle up his drinks account. And when the innkeeper tries to take possession the Gauls find they are facing a new kind of Roman invasion. Translated from Fench, the Asterix comic books purport to be written for children, but they enjoy a well-deserved adult following. "Asterix and Caesar’s Gift” maintains the standard of the 18 earlier adventures of Asterix the Gaul
