Antarctic agreement
'The 13 Antarctic Treaty Powers have reaffirmed their role as protectors of the virtually untouched Antarctic environment. In two key resolutions at a three-week consultative meeting in London they placed an embargo on mineral resource exploration while the environmental effects of such studies are examined and assessed, and agreed to draw up a regime designed to protect the living marine resources of the area on which the Antarctic ecosystem revolves.—London.
