• Voodoo Chile (a slight return). A rock music*! based on the life of legendary rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix will open in New York. The producer is Ritchie Havens, and stars Jack Hammer, a friend of the late Hendrix. The musical is called “Electric God,” and after its New York run it will be brought to London. Haven says that Hammer looks like Hendrix. They served in the same paratroop regiment, wrote three songs together, and Hammer replaced Hendrix in a band with Curtis Knight. • Beware of strangers bearing gifts. Gari Palmer, the drummer for Emerson. Lake, and Palmer, insists on eight hours sleep and a tough regimen of a nightly 15-mile run followed by a pint of goat’s milk and reading the Koran. But he was rudelyawakened at 2.30 a m. on one of the last nights of hi* American tour by the hotel front desk telling him there was a package for him. Despite protests the package was sent up. and in it was a pair of lace panties, suspenders, and a bra. Perplexed, he went to sleep only to be awakened by a phone call from the owner of the items offering a “practical demonstration.” Rumour has it that an exasperated Palmer donned his running gear and went for an early-morning jog around Central Park. .
