A Christchurch fireman, Mr T. S. Scott, is the fifth person known to be seeking the Labour Party nomination for Mr Paddy Blanchfield’s West Coast seat.

Mr Scott was born in Hokitika, but now lives in Christchurch, and is chairman of the South Island branch of the Fire Brigades’ Union.

The other hopefuls for the Labour Party nomination are Dr M. Shepherd, a former Greymouth man, now a biochemist in Dunedin; Mr R. F. Beadle, president of the West Coast Trades Council; Mr S. G. O’Keefe, a Westport businessman; and Mr H. de Lacey, a Wellington journalist.
