Drainage Board policies
Sir, —It seems rather incredible that the Citizens policy for the Christchurch Drainage Board is to continue in the same manner in the future. With this pros-
pect in mind, Christchurch can expect to go under water very soon. For the last three years, the Citizens-controlled board has totally failed to com. to grips with the critical flooding and drainage problem facing this city. In this time they have spent their efforts buck-passing and making excuses for their total lack of action. A Labour Drainage Board will make no such excuses. Labour will work as closely as possible with other local authorities, even to the point of amalgamating with the City Council, if this will promote efficiency and competency for the benefit of Christchurch. As long as incumbent members continue to play their “petty political power games” Christchurch will face the real threat of drowning in the current board’s failures.—Yours, etc., C. K. HAMPTON.
