Situation: A complex trough of low pressure is moving eastwards across New Zealand, as also is a ridge of high pressure extending southwards from the Tasman Sea. Forecasts: Canterbury: Fresh or strong southerlies; cold and * showery, particularly on the coast; fair periods developing, mainly inland.
Marlborough. Nelson: Fresh cold southerlies and showers in coastal Marlborough but becoming fine elsewhere with lighter southerlies; frosts in sheltered places tonight. Buller, Westland: Moderate southerlies; fine or becoming fine; cool. Outlook: Mainly fair - in Canterbury, fine on the West Coast; mainly fine elsewhere.
