Situations vacant AGRONOMIST/MANAGER NEW PROJECT THE POSITION: The Farmers Co-operatives and the Hodder and Tolley Group have joined together to establish a Seed Trial Research Unit to be located in the Prebbleton area close to Christchurch We seek to appoint an Agronomist to control the operation of this unit which will be involved in the assessment of both New Zealand and overseas agricultural seed varieties. Since this is a new project the successful applicant will be involved in the initial planning, purchasing and development. THE PERSON: Definite preference will be given to applicants who hold an appropriate degree in agriculture or similar qualification. A full understanding of trial work and the appropriate statistical techniques is an important prerequisite. Previous practical experience in the field of seed research would be an advantage. SALARY AND CONDITIONS: The median salary envisaged for this position is SI 1,000 per annum, but the successful applicant with advanced scientific knowledge and experience could anticipate a salary in excess of this figure. A company vehicle will be available on taking up appointment to the position and should relocation be necessary reasonable expenses will be met.
