Maize men to vote
PA Wellington Proposals for a national organisation of maize growers, as a sub-section of Federated Farmers are being put to the vote among the growers. Announcing this in a statement, the chairman of Federated Farmers’ agriculture section (Mr Arthur Mulholland) said the sub-section would represent all maize growers and would operate at dominion and provincial level within Federated Farmers. “The federation is seeking approval to establish a levy of up to 10c a tonne for the administration of the subsection. This would be collected at the same time as the maize stabilisation levy, yet would not increase the maximum amount of levy already agreed on in the major maize growing provinces,” Mr Mulholland said.
