PA Auckland Three-year-old Uncle Remus, already the most widely discussed runner for Saturdays Great Northern Guineas, came further into favour for the Ellerslie classic when he decisively beat his stablemate and race day rival. Old Son. in training at Takanlni vesterday. Crest Star also galloped impressively, and another of the three-}ear-olds, Supreme Bo>. got through a solid 1200 m as well. Of the older horses to gallop, none wen* better than Communique. Taksan. and Sea Egg. Sly Wink, will know she has been to the I races when she meets the Hastings pair of Mun Lee and Frist I at Masterton on Saturday. | This was spelled out in no un- ' certain terms at the Hastings track yesterday morning when Frist and Mun Lee turned in a tremendous 1000 m gallop. Galloping was mainly confined to the course proper where the track provided good footing. Other candidates for Masterton on Saturday which galloped particularly well were Gold ’n’ Glory, Standoubt, Manuahi, Aldonte, and Sweet Rock.
