Thumbs up for ‘The Governor’
“Skilfully produced and very enjoyable," was the verdict on the first part of the TVI production, “The Governor," from the chairman of the committee inquiring into the spending on the series. Mr W. F. Birch, chairman of Parliament’s Public Expenditure Committee, said that “for a New Zealand-produced film it is probably one of the best I have seen,” the Press Ass -’ation reports from Auckland. He said, however, that it was impossible to say, from watching the first episode, whether it was worth the $200,000 it might have cost What the committee was looking at was whether there had been any unnecessary spending. Mr Birch said he was particularly impressed by the acting of George Henare as Hone Heke.
