Govt house rents up
PA Wellington A total of 14,500 Government department houses subject to the standard rental formula have had their rents increased from between 20c and $2.50. The Minister of State Services (Mr Gordon) said that for the remaining 1500 departmental houses, where the particular department did not average rents over all tenants, the increases would range from nil to, in some few cases, a maximum of $lO a week. Rents for most houses at Twizel and Turangi were not calculated in terms of the standard formula and would remain at the present level, Mr Gordon said, in a reply to a Parliamentary question by Mr F. L. Rogers (Lab., Onehunga).
