MALL MANAGER

The management of the entire Hornby shopping mall will be the responsibility of G.U.S. Properties and their shopping mall manager, Alistair Price. His job will ire to ensure that everything within the shopping centre runs smoothly and, along with a Merchants’ Association of retailers’ representatives, he will organise promotions and publicity campaigns for the shopping centre.

For the first three or four months he expects to be at the Mall all day, every day, to take care of any problems that might occur in the opening stages.

“We will be emphasising the 'family centre’ aspect of the Mall as we want people to look on it as a community facility as well as just a retail centre.”

There will be a Hornby community noticeboard for the use of the town’s 80 service organisations and a customer bulletin board will also be provided.

The completed Mall really will be a one-stop shopping centre with virtually every type of retail store the customer could want, he says. “We are also trying to arrange some form of entertainment or promotion in the Mall each week for the benefit of the shoppers; both entertainers and static displays, and we are hoping to attract some big name people to the mall every few months for publicity purposes.” During this opening week a caravan will be given away to a lucky shopper at the Hornbv Mall.
