Alpine national parks

Sir, —The time, perhaps, has come for the Arthur’s Pass National Park Board to reassess its policy on access and development at the Temple Basin ski-field. T e ski-field area is a big attraction during winter and summer, and it is obvious that if access was improved, more people, particularly the elderly and less active ones, would be able to get there. Surely a precedent has already been set with the building of the Carrington Hotel and the improvement of the “BB” trail, now renamed the “Waimak Highway.”—Yours, etc., PADDY FREANEY. Arthur’s Pass. August 29, 1977.
