Wvllie goes ahead
The Canterbury captain, Alex Wyllie, will move into sixth position on the list of most appearances in New Zealand first-class rugby when he takes the field' at Rugby Park. Invercargill, this atternoon. It will be Wyllie’s 242nd appearance, one more than Wilson Whineray. Those still ahead of him are Colin Meads (361), Fergie McCormick (308), Kel Temain (2(59), lan Kirkpatrick (256) and lan Clarke (253).
W’yllie played his 175th game for Canterbury against Bay of Plenty last Saturday, which places him behind only McCormick (222) and “Snow” White (196) in most appearances for a province. It was also Wyllie’s 75th game as captain.
