Speculators despair of take-over bids
f Selected coal stocks’ tumbled on Australian markets yesterday. Bellambi fell 30c to 960 c land White Industries 18c to 137 c, partly on the lack of a take-over bidder. A.A.R. lost 1c to 175 c after (the directors recommended that shareholders not sell for the CSR offer of 175 c. Coal and Allied rose 5c to 355 c, CRA, and Howard Smith are bidding for it. Oakbridge rose 4c to 144 c. The uraniums picked up some of the ground lost in I Friday’s slump, and PanconItinental rose 30c to 990 c. (Queensland Mines picked up 110 c to 260 c, Peko rose 10c to 510 c, but EZI fell 3c to 272 c. MIM fell 7c to 177 c on news that it had lowered its
copper price. Central Norseman reached 480 c, up 25c to a new high for the year.
;; CSR rose 2c, attributed to ■ the better outlook for the (sugar talks with Japan. : Bundaberg sugar was up 3c > to 338 c. i BHP fell 4c to 568 c. The banks were mainly steady as - were the retailers. 1 TNT continued the downr ward trend and lost 3c to 101 c.
