Gambia drought
The former British colony of Gambia has declared itself drought-stricken and appealed to the world community for help, the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation has said. The Government of the small West African nation astride the Gambia River told F.A.O. that 1977 had produced only one-fifth of the rain which fell up to this date last year. — Rome.
