Several hurt in Chch crashes

A man is in a fairly comfortable condition in the intensive care unit at Christchurch Hospital after suffering severe leg injuries when the motor-cycle he was riding was in collision with two cars at 11.30 p.m. on Saturday.

He is Charles Keating, aged 20- of 32 Rookwood Avenue. The accident happened at the intersection of Rowen Avenue and Pages Road.

The driver and passenger of one of the cars suffered minor injuries and were taken to Christchurch Hospital where they were treated and discharged.

Another motor - cyclist, Russell Miles, aged 18, of 8 Oakdale Street, was admited to Christchurch Hospital after his machine struck a pole in Oakdale Street at 2.17 p.m. on Saturday. Mr Miles suffered head and shoulder injuries. His condition was not available last evening.

Jocelyn Yates, aged 19, of 193 Knowles Street, suffered concussion and lacerations to her head when the car in which she was a passenger was involved in a collision with a bus at the intersection of Blenheim Road and Watts Road at 9.22 p.m. !on Saturday. She was ad[mitted to Princess Margaret i Hospital, but her condition was not available last evening. Peter John Bennett, of 238 Barrington Street, was also admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital after suffering minor chest injuries when the car he was driving hit a stationary car in Olliviers Road at 10.46 p.m, on Saturday. His condition was not available either.

A boy is in the intensive care unit at Christchurch Hospital after suffering internal injuries in an accident involving a car near his home. He is D. P. Borland, aged three, of 476 Mairehau Road. He was taken by private car to Burwood Hospital but later transferred to Christchurch Hospital. His condition was not available.

A Kaikoura youth suffered neck, pelvis and head injuries when the car in which he was a passenger rolled on the Main Road near the Clarence River bridge just after midnight on Saturday.

He is John Alexander Smith, aged 17- of 25 Avoca Street, Kaikoura. He was taken by Kaikoura ambulance to Domett, where he was transferred to a Christchurch St John ambulance and taken to Christchurch Hospital. He was in a com-, ifortable condition last even-, ing.
