Swedes ski well

I The highly rated Swedish (ski-ing team, led by the) (World Cup holder, Ingemar (Stenmark, dominated the' (Thredbo Cup giant slalom international races on the Snowy Mountains course in (Australia yesterday. Stenmark showed his bril- 1 'liance by finishing more: than a second clear of his team-mate, Torsten Jakobssen. Another Swede. Stig (Strand, filled third place. A fine performance by the (Taranaki skier, Warwick; ) Brown, allowed him to finish ( fifth in a field of 40 and: (there were also good efforts[ ;by two other New Zealand-! ers, Julian Morris (Canter-; bury) and Scott Kendall! (Auckland), who were placed sixth and eighth respectively. The weather was warm 1 and the snow was soft. Among the non-starters were Robbie Mclntyre (Australia) and Jeremy Light (New Zealand). Osamu Kodama, of Japan, and Kim Clifford (Australia) were among those who failed to finish.
