Container uncertainty
Uncertainty still hangs over the prospect of more business at Lyttelton’s container terminal, according to the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s container terminal manager (Mr P. G. Morgan). Though the terminal has secured the large A.N.Z.E.C.S. container shipping service and the West Indies container service, “the others are still in a grey area,” he said. Another important container line, A.C.T., was sending only a small number of ships to the South Island at the moment, Mr Morgan said.
The terminal was passing through a period of building up a reputation for efficiency. “Once this reputation can be consolidated then it is the firm belief of management that further business will be attracted to the terminal,” he said. — JBL man seeks costs ; A former JBL director, Mr Hugo Stephen Fanning, acquitted of charges in the recent JBL trial, has decided to seek costs for the Lower Court hearing last year. — (P.A.).
