Situation: A large, shallow depression east of the North Island is moving slowly away to the east. An east to southeasterly airstream is bringing unsettled weather to eastern districts. A ridge of high pressure over the south of the South Island is moving slowly northwards. Forecast: Marlborough, Nelson: Moderate to fresh winds between south and east, but winds !
lighter in Nelson; cloudy, with coastal drizzle in Marlborough; mainly fine in Nelson; cool in the east, mild elsewhere. Buller, Westland: Fine, with light winds; mild in the afternoon. Canterbury: Overcast and cool, with periods of drizzle, but brighter intervals inland; moderate winds from the easterly quarter. Outlook: Mainly fine.
