Lavaro stars again
Special correspondent Hastings Lavaro, one of the star, trialists last week, showed again his fitness for Foxton tomorrow with a superb gal-j lop at Hastings The Hastings track was! awash after persistent over-. night rain. Galloping was done on the No. 1 grass and) plough and times were very] slow. Lavaro was accompanied by his stablemate. No Way. They worked in at half-pace: from the 1600 m on and sprinted home the last 600 m.! Lavaro was travelling very; well at the finish being a length ahead of No Way and recording 40.35. Young Steve, one of the best gallopers on Tuesday, found the much-heavier conditions a bit more testing. However, be ran 800 m in 55.85, the final 600 m in 41s. Cloudy Lease ran two 600 m sprints with Que Sera, the first taking 43s and the second 445. Time honours for the! morning went to Sugar Bag which scampered clear of Yukiko and Matterhorn in the early stages of their 800 m gallop on the plough. He recorded 51s, the final 600 m requiring 38.55.
