Racing and trotting Four-year-olds stand out in T.A.B. treble
By
G. K. YULE
Four-)ear-old? should haie a big -a> in the decision of at least tMo legs of the T.A.B. treble at \ddington Kaceuay this evening. There are two of this age group in the first leg. the Aouiig Quinn Handicap, ami tour in the secoml leg. the Hillmorton Handimp.
Ruling Lobell, the hackmarker on 20m. is the only four-vear-old in the final leg. the Royal Ascot Handicap. Worthy Lord could match most of the field in the first; leg. He is sure to have benefited from his run of a week ago when he fought on to beat all but the more-sea-soned Rebecca’s Pride over 2600 m. the distance of this evening’s race. American Chief and Jascoe shaped like improvers j on the first night and thev could be the pick of the older horses, but they might find it hard to catch Lordable. which is .he same age as Worthy Lord. Lordable finished quite well for third o.i the first night. If there is to be a surprise. the Southland five-vear-old. Calton Hill, could; cause it. He began badly last week and made ground; steadily to finish seventh. Hanover Reine. Our Locaton and Bold Lopez, all four-year-olds, look likely to! dominate the finish to the; second leg. Lancia, on 10m,; is the same age and she will not be a forlorn chance: nor will Butler Belle or Lauraine Hanover. Ruling Lobell paced a splendid race from 20m last, Saturday when she overcame
an interrupted passage to finish fourth behind Saucy Jack. Even from her long mark she will be a chance, but might find Rocky Try ax and Sly Brewer hard to beat if they race with the dash they showed last week.
i Rebecca’s Pride and Saucy • Jack are first-night winners > entitled to consideration, > while Bess Hanover, which j tired to sixth after setting 11 most of a very hot pace, could figure in the finish.
