|PA Wellington i “The need to study the (changing role of women in I (the Pacific” has been! (pointed out to the Minister! lof Foreign Affairs (Mr TalIboys) according to Ms Eliza-! beth Reid, the Australian feminist and director of the (Educational and Social! Council for Asia and the Pacific (E.S.C.A.P.) centre for women and development. Ms' Reid raised the possibility with Mr Taiboys of New Zealand playing a prominent role in these studies. New Zealand had given a prompt, if small, grant when the centre was established in; February, but since then had; waited to see how it developed, Ms Reid said. Although Mr Taiboys could promise nothing definite, he had given an assurance that the Government would consider aid for women in future projects for the Pacific area.
