The rola and functions of the council are as set out in the Alcoholic Liquor Advisory Council Act 1976. The appointee will be responsible to the Council for the over-all administration of its activities in the fields of research, information, education, treatment, and support of community organisations. A sound knowledge of administration and secretarial duties is necessary, and in addition the appointee will be required to perform a number of representational tasks, including public speaking engagements. Initiative and organising ability will be especially valuable. Conditions of employment will be parallel to those applying in the public service.
