©MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES CANTERBURY LUCERNE SEED GROWERS The Ministry of Agiculture and Fisheries is this year continuing the same programme as last year for the identification of Canterbury lucerne seed from areas on which Bacterial Wilt has riot been found by paddock inspection. Commencing with the 1977-78 certification season all areas of "Wairau", "Chanticleer", "Hunter River" and "College Glutinosa” lucerne, entered for certification are to be rejected if Bacterial Wilt is found at either a field inspection or as a result of a serological test The cultivars "Saranac" and "Washoe" are considered to be resistant to Bacterial Wilt In order to allow the inspection of seed areas, growers are asked to notify the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries by September 2nd of those areas which might be saved for seed in the coming season.
