Churches and terrorism
Sir, — Men of faith may indeed be involved in the work of the World Council of Churches, but they are either wickedly misinformed or else criminally careless stewards for it is clear that the devil distributes the funds. Terrorism is totally inhumane and totally antiChristian. 1 have known terrorism in Africa; so I Know what I am talking about. It is cruel beyond the imagination or belief of most New Zealanders. It is far, far worse than anything that you could ever see in South Africa. I have also known marvellous African Christians, full of God’s love, joy and peace. To them terrorism is an anathema, utterly to be condemned in all circumstances. Because they hate it they are its first targets, together with the missionaries who inspire such love and loyalty in the people among whom they work. Are we supporting terrorism or Christianity? Perhaps we should inquire? — Yours, etc.,
PENELOPE ALEXANDER. Hawarden August 24, 1977.
