Border raid kills 28
NZPA Aranyaprathet Thai troops yesterday moved into two charred frontier villages where at le..st 28 people including 11 children, were killed by Ca ibodian soldiers in crossborde raids, the military authorities have said. No fighting was reported along the tense frontier. The Thai military said that most of the raiding force which had attacked the two villages — Chalor Changan and Sangae — had slipped back into Cambodia. The Cambodians also positioned themselves near a
third village. Krasang but did not attack it, the authorities said. Thai officers said the Cambodians stabbed some ot the children to death with bayonets. Witnesses, unable to give reasons for the attacks, said the villagers were gunned down while escaping from their burning homes and their bodies were charred beyond recognition. A spokesman for the border patrol police said the deepest Cambodian penetration into Thai territory yesterday was 3km.
