$6000 bonus for 12-year-old
PA Auckland Honesty is the best policy, it is said, and in David Poolman’s case it is also a $6OOO bonus.
David, aged 12, from Kaukapakapa, found £3OOO in the seat of a chair he picked up at the local rubbish dump.
He used the chair to make a trolley, and when he came to re-cover the tatty old seat he discovered three envelopes with the old notes inside.
The money was handed to the Helensville police who, after two months of national inquiry, are satisfied that it is extremely unlikely there are any claimants. After the initial excitement of getting the money back had died down yesterday, David’s parents were talking seriously of trust funds and long-term, inflation-proof investments. David was talking of a new set of pneumatic tyres for his trolley.
