Silk to appeal
PA Auckland Superintendent R. P. Silk, who was found guilty of three drinking-driving offences earlier this week, will appeal against his conviction. He said yesterday that his legal adviser, Mr P. B. Temm, Q.C., would lodge the appeal within two or three days. He was not prepared to discuss the grounds of the appeal.
On Monday, in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland, Superintendent Silk was found guilty of dangerous driving, driving a car while under the influence of drink or a drug to such an extent as to be incapable of having proper control, and refusing to permit a specimen of blood to be taken. He was fined a total of $650. and disqualified from driving for two years.
