Times of matches

Draws of 16 players will contest both the me-’s and the women's open giades for “The Press” invitation open squash tournament.

First round matches in the men’s competition begin on the Christchurch Squash Rackets Club’s courts at 6.05 p.m. tomorrow evening and are

scheduled to continue at intervals of 35mins, with the last match at 10.10 p.m. The first round of the women’s section begins at 6.40 p.m. with the final match set down for 10.50 p.m.

In Saturday’s quarterfinals the top four seeds should be playing in matches at 11.10 a.m. (Bruce Brownlee), 11.50 a.m. (Len Steward), 12.30 (Fred Howell) and 1.10 p.m. (Murray Lilley) respectively.

In the men’s semi-finals, Brownlee is seeded to meet Steward at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday evening with Lilley playing Howell at the conclusion of this game. The women’s semi-finals — Joanne Milne is seeded to meet Lorriane Sutherland and Phillipa Lush should play Margaret Stagg — are scheduled to by played at 6 p.m. and 6.45 p.m. at Saturday. On Sunday the action will switch to the glassbacked court at Queen Elizabeth II Park with its greater capacity for a large gallery. The men’s

classic plate final will be played at 1.30 p.m. and this game will be followed by the women’s open final and the men’s open finals.
